What should be done to prepare your car or bike for a Dyno (Dynamometer) testing session?

Basically its no different to what you should do before a motorway journey!

  • Check oil level, don't overfill.  if its due for an oil / filter change do this first!

  • Make sure the air filter is clean.

  • Check coolant level.

  • Check for coolant leaks visually

  • Check tyres for correct  pressures (or a few PSI extra), and healthy condition, especially if its a seriously powerful vehicle, as grip may be a problem.

  • Add enough fuel.

  • If you use nitrous, water injection, etc make sure these are all topped up!

  • Make sure it has correctly gapped healthy plugs.

  • Make sure it drives normally if its a road car! No dodgy HT leads etc.

That's all you need to do. Dyno testing is no worse for your car than a bit of fast motorway driving, and in some cases arguably safer for your engine!
