Exhaust gas extraction

If dyno testing outside in the fresh air as in my mobile unit opposite then we simply park up facing into the wind!  All the exhaust gasses and heat blow out through the front, rear, or side doors.

But if you are in a workshop or any fixed building it is essential!  If not then everyone will be poisoned and the dynamometer testing and data will be pretty meaningless because engines do not run well on exhaust fumes ether!

In the photo here of the bike dyno inside the workshop you can see the nice shiny extractor intake over the exhaust exit.  This is connected to a big extractor fan by a pipe and exits outside the building via a silencer.  And of course there is a large air vent that allows fresh air in from outside to replace the air removed.

This is important because the extractor fan would otherwise lower the air pressure inside the dynamometer test cell.
